The Georgia Bulldogs might be the country’s second-ranked team, but concerns abound, especially at quarterback. Carson Beck has not played the part this season. Beck came into the year with Heisman Trophy hype for the then-top-ranked Dawgs. While the Dawgs are one of the country’s most talented teams, Beck has put together a woeful season.

Georgia’s offense has disappointed as a result of Beck’s disappointing play. They’ve turned the ball over far too often for an elite team, and as a result, Klatt outlined several concerns on Monday’s episode of The Joel Klatt Show.

“So Georgia, they beat Florida 34-20, and yet, what’s going on with Georgia?” Klatt asked. “Carson Beck has got to stop turning the football over.”

Klatt discussed Beck’s preseason Heisman candidacy and potential NFL Draft prospects. He ranked him first among quarterbacks, including over Dillon Gabriel, Sheduer Sanders, Quinn Ewers, and other stars.

“He’s thrown 11 interceptions in his last five games. It just goes to show you how difficult it is to play the position when you don’t have guys on the outside that are winning and creating space and making plays like Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey were,” he said. He brought up Georgia’s win over Texas but said Beck was not a factor in that win either because they got a lot of short fields.

He then praised their defense, which he considers among the best in the country, but called their offense a “total liability.” Klatt remarked it could put them in trouble against Ole Miss, who is at least competent on offense. Klatt said that when he watches Georgia, he sees a team that’s turning the ball over just entirely too much.

“So this Georgia team has some question marks. And it lies in the hands of their veteran quarterback,” Klatt said. “He’s gotta stop turning the ball over.” He said the Bulldogs will be fine if Beck sorts out his turnover issues. But if he doesn’t, they’re going to register a second loss.
