The Penn State Nittany Lions fell to the Ohio State Buckeyes in a top-five showdown over the weekend, but it sounds like Penn State head coach James Franklin was not exactly happy with the officiating in the game.
During his postgame press conference, James Franklin made it pretty clear that he thinks Penn State did not receive favorable calls from the officials throughout the game.
While he didn’t explicitly discuss the officiating, it was pretty clear he wasn’t happy about it.
“There’s a lot of things that I had planned on saying when I came in here today, but they are not appropriate to say right now,” Franklin said in his postgame press conference according to Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.
“There were a ton of 50-50 calls in this game that you could call in either direction,” Franklin continued.
It’s not clear what exactly Franklin is referring to, but he clearly seems to think his team got the short end of a few officiating decisions.
Ohio State did benefit from a controversial review decision that changed what was ruled as an Ohio State fumble recovered by Penn State into an incomplete pass.
Despite the loss, Penn State does still appear to have a strong case to make the College Football Playoff.
