Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns continue to find success both on the field and on the recruiting trail.

Days removed from beating the Michigan Wolverines and moving to No. 2 in the AP Poll, Texas’ highest ranking since 2009, the school received a commitment from 2026 four-star safety Zelus Hicks.

On3’s Hayes Fawcett had the news on Thursday afternoon.

As Fawcett notes, Hicks is from Georgia and chose the Longhorns over the Georgia Bulldogs, USC Trojans, and Ohio State Buckeyes.

“Things moved quickly with Texas. They came out in the spring and offered, they came heavy after me, and after that visit, I felt great about Texas. I liked the school…they just kept applying pressure like no other school and I made my decision. They tell me I am No. 1 on their board and they are No. 1 on my board, so it is a perfect match. Me and my dad have been talking about it and I made my decision earlier this week,” Hicks told On3.

Texas had a big month of August on the recruiting trail, making massive improvements to their class of 2025 and now starting to work on 2026.
