On Tuesday, the Alabama Crimson Tide landed an elite running back for their loaded Class of 2025. Four-star running back Akylin Dear made his commitment decision on Tuesday, as he’ll head to Tuscaloosa next fall.
On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported the news on Dear’s commitment to the Crimson Tide.
Fawcett noted that Dear, a Mississippi native, chose the Tide over the Ole Miss Rebels and Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Dear is just the latest elite running back who elected to play for the Tide. It’s a long laundry list of guys dating all the way back to Mark Ingram in the late 2000s. Josh Jacobs, Derrick Henry, and more have followed out of Tuscaloosa over the years and gone on to stardom either in college or professionally. Or, in cases like Henry, both.
There’ll be zero questions about Dear’s fit with Alabama. While new head coach Kalen DeBoer runs a high-flying offense, balance is crucial, so Dear will likely fit like a glove when it comes time.
Alabama’s incredible 2025 recruiting class still ranks second in the nation behind Ohio State, but 76 percent of their class are blue-chippers (4-stars or above), so it’s safe to say there’s going to be no shortage of talent anytime soon.
