Young star quarterback Arch Manning made the first start of his college career this weekend for the Texas Longhorns, and it sounds like he earned himself a new nickname.
This weekend, Arch Manning filled in as the starting quarterback of the Texas Longhorns after starter Quinn Ewers suffered an injury during last week’s game against UTSA.
After throwing an interception on his first drive of the game, he had a strong showing, completing 15 of 29 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns.
The performance seemed to make waves across the country. According to Athlon Sports, an ESPN announcer seemed to give Arch Manning a nickname during halftime of Saturday night’s game between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Tennessee Volunteers, calling him “The Future.”
And that seems in line with what others are saying on social media.
The Texas Longhorns official account talked about “the future” in a post showcasing a touchdown pass from Ewers.

And fans across the country have been using this same language.
“Arch Manning, you are the future,” one fan said on X.
“Arch Manning is making the case that he is the future of Texas football,” another fan said.
“Arch Manning is inevitable. The future,” another fan said.
“Arch Manning is QB1 for the future, but not for right now,” another fan mentioned.
We’ll have to see whether or not the nickname sticks.
