Arch Manning Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning (16) lines up for a snap during the game against Mississippi State at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024.

Arch Manning led the Texas Longhorns to victory Saturday night. The top-ranked Longhorns took care of business in their 35-13 defeat of the visiting Mississippi State Bulldogs. Their victory came in their first SEC home game of their stay in the conference, as they and Oklahoma joined in the offseason.

Manning performed brilliantly yet again Saturday night. This time that terrific showing came against an SEC opponent. He went 26 for 31, threw for 324 yards, tossed two touchdowns, and threw zero interceptions.

It’s safe to say that he’s playing the game well. According to the man himself, he’s seeing things well too. He revealed a huge change in his game, as Manning says the game is slowing down for him.

“Postgame thoughts from QB Arch Manning,” Longhorns writer CJ Vogel posted on X.

“Yeah, I think so,” Manning said via CJ Vogel, after a reporter asked him if the game’s starting to slow down for him. “It’s my third time being in live action, or fourth. It’s starting to slow down a little bit.’

That’s a major development for the touted Manning, the latest in a long line of incredible quarterbacks. Archie led a long NFL career decades ago before his sons Eli and Peyton came around. Peyton became one of the greatest quarterbacks of his era. Eli, meanwhile, won two Super Bowls in New York and led the Giants to one of the greatest upsets in sports history against the undefeated New England Patriots.

Top-ranked Texas has a great “conundrum” to have, with two quarterbacks playing at an elite level. Quinn Ewers strained his oblique a few weeks ago and hasn’t appeared in a game since. Texas, fortunately, has a great insurance policy. But once Ewers is good to go, he’s likely to reassume QB1 duties in Austin. For now, the fawning over Manning continues.
