Arch Manning put on a show on Saturday afternoon. Following Quinn Ewers’ departure due to injury, later found out to be an oblique strain, Manning came in and led the Longhorns to victory.
The touted Manning, yet another in that illustrious family tree, has high expectations around him. But on Saturday, he certainly looked the part.
After Ewers’ oblique injury, the star quarterback is out on a ‘day-to-day’ basis. And because of that, Texas had to make a decision. And so they have.
In reporting on Ewers’ injury, ESPN’s Max Olson also revealed a major piece of news: Arch Manning will make his first collegiate start this Saturday in place of the injured Ewers.
Texas QB Quinn Ewers (oblique strain) is week-to-week and likely to miss the ULM game, sources tell @PeteThamel. Arch Manning in line to get his first start for the No. 1 Longhorns. Update here: https://t.co/XODxS2VTWQ

“Arch Manning in line to get his first start for the No. 1 Longhorns,” Olson said.
Manning came into Texas with high aspirations and a lot of hype. Albeit injury-related circumstances, now he’ll get a crack at playing at the collegiate level.
Texas will play UL-Monroe this Saturday night at 8 p.m. Eastern. Certainly, all eyes will be on the newly-top-ranked Longhorns and their quarterback.
