The Auburn Tigers haven’t fared well this season. Auburn has sputtered around and has had some defeating performance this year. The Tigers fell to visiting Cal earlier this year and lost a game against Oklahoma they had one. Then Georgia decleated them in another edition of the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. Head coach Hugh Freeze can’t drum up too much positivity right now on the plains.
Following Auburn’s 31-13 loss to longtime rival Georgia, Freeze hit the podium and addressed the media. There, the Auburn coach got brutally honest on the state of things.
“Obviously, a disappointing season,” Freeze said. “Today is another step not in the direction we had hoped.”
Freeze commended Georgia and head coach Kirby Smart for their elite roster-building. He continued to play it straight on the state of his Tigers.
“We’re not playing winning football,” Freeze said. “And I’m glad it’s an open week. We’ve got to, as coaches, figure out how to coach them harder.” He added he doesn’t feel the team is too far away from success, but that not making critical errors has to be further emphasized.
Auburn will have a bye week before going to Missouri in two weeks. Those Tigers are on the heels of a disappointing performance against Texas A&M. So we’ll see if a clean week can help Auburn against a reeling team.
