The Alabama Crimson Tide came away with a thrilling 41-34 win over the Georgia Bulldogs Saturday night in Tuscaloosa. The game lived up to every bit of the hype.
Georgia responded to Alabama taking a 28-0 lead in the first half by coming out with a renewed sense of performance in the second half, culminating in a 67-yard touchdown pass from Carson Beck to wide receiver Dillon Bell with 2:30 to play to put the Bulldogs up 34-33.
Jalen Milroe, Ryan Williams, and the rest of the Tide got the last laugh, though, when Milroe found Williams for a one-play 75-yard strikg to give Alabama the 41-34 lead.
Beck had a chance to tie the game in the final minute but threw an interception in the end zone to seal the deal and end Georgia’s 42-game regular season win streak.
The senior quarterback finished 27-for-50 in the loss, throwing for 439 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions. After the game, he mentioned he was proud of the team’s fight, despite the loss.
“I’m really proud of our guys and how we fought. Obviously I’m upset. I’m not big on moral victories. I believe in winning and losing, and we lost. But we fought hard and I mean that’s something to be proud of,” Beck said via On3.
It’s easy to understand his point. When a team gets down big against Alabama, it’s an impossible hole to climb out of. Georgia not only climbed out but even gained the lead. Beck said that’s just who the Bulldogs are.
“I think that’s how we’re built. I think that’s what the ‘G’ stands for. I think we’ve always shown that no matter what the circumstances are we’re always going to fight and we’re definitely, we’re not going to quit ever. It’s who we are.”
