The NCAA is under fire yet again—this time over a shocking situation that developed out of Las Vegas on Wednesday. UNLV quarterback Matthew Skula announced that he intended to transfer over a financial dispute.
According to an ESPN.com report, the dispute stems from an NIL offer worth up to six figures. UNLV has since responded to the accusations and pledged to continue working with the NCAA and Nevada state laws.
Amid the bizarre situation, one veteran head coach has spoken out. That coach is blaming the NCAA for all the mess. ESPN’s Pete Thamel posted a red-hot quote from an anonymous college football coach, who called out the NCAA for its lack of regulations.
From a veteran college head coach on the UNLV/Sluka situation: “This is Jayden Rashada 2.0. Everyone is trying to find out who is at fault, and it’s the NCAA’s fault. There’s no rules. There’s no guardrails.”

It’s quite a call-out, but it’s one that’s going to get him some favor. The NCAA hasn’t done much to regulate NIL, so it’s hard for the organization to get mad when situations like Matthew Skula‘s occur. At times, it’s felt like the Wild West, and that wouldn’t happen if the NCAA didn’t do their job.
