Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia has been the toast of the town in college football. The Commodores quarterback led them to a historic upset of the then-top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide.

Pavia’s performance has made him a legend in Nashville forever. The Southeastern Conference recognized Pavia for his class showing against Alabama, as he earned Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Vanderbilt celebrated the big news with a post on X, the website known as Twitter.

“Diego Pavia led Vanderbilt to a 38-31 upset win over No. 1/2 Alabama, completing 16 of 20 passes for 252 yards and 2 TDs,” a release on SECSports.com read on the Vandy quarterback. “He also added 56 rushing yards, finishing with 308 total yards. Pavia’s passing efficiency rating of 218.8 was his best of the season, and both of his touchdown passes gave the Commodores a two-score lead in the second half, including one on a crucial 4th-and-1.”

Vanderbilt ate a fine after the fans tore the goalposts down and brought them three miles away from the stadium. It was a day no one will forget anytime soon, and it was largely in part thanks to Pavia. It’s hard to achieve that status, but he might be a Vanderbilt legend for life.

The college football world had plenty to say about the news on Diego Pavia.
