As the 2024 United States presidential election draws near, candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris have ramped up campaign efforts in swing states such as Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

Trump, who spoke at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center last Saturday, was also expected to return to State College for the Nittany Lions’  showdown with the Ohio State Buckeyes this Saturday after reportedly being invited by a private citizen.

On Wednesday, the Penn State blog Onward State reported that the plans had changed, and Trump would no longer attend Saturday’s contest.

“Donald Trump is no longer set to attend Penn State football’s Saturday matchup against Ohio State, a university spokesperson told Onward State,” the site noted in the article.

Trump has attended many college football games both during and after his presidency. He was at both the 2018 and 2020 College Football Playoff National Championships and, last season, appeared at the Iowa State vs. Iowa and South Carolina vs. Clemson games to make a presence in key early primary states.

While Harris hasn’t attended many sporting events during this election cycle, Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz has, recently seeing his Minnesota Golden Gophers fall 27-24 to the Michigan Wolverines at the end of September.
