The East Carolina Pirates have started the 2024 season with a 2-1 record, already matching their 2023 win total in a season that saw them go 2-10.
The Pirates will almost certainly win at least one more game this year, making the season more successful than 2023, but they’ll be without All-AAC cornerback Shavon Revel Jr.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Revel, who is projected to be one of the top cornerbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft, suffered a season-ending torn ACL in practice this week.
Star ECU cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. will miss the rest of the season with an ACL tear, per sources. Full story here, including his projection as the country’s No. 2 CB from @MelKiperESPN. He’d been dominant for ECU this year. https://t.co/bqELq7MPx9

Revel had a 50-yard interception return in ECU’s Week 3 loss to the Appalachian State Mountaineers, one of two interceptions he hauled in on the young season.
Thamel notes that a source told him Revel suffered a ‘freak injury’ on Wednesday. He also notes that nearly every NFL team had already sent scouts to East Carolina games to scout the talented cornerback in person this season.
It’s unclear who will replace Revel on the Pirates’ depth chart, but the team will have to figure that out soon as they head to Lynchburg, VA, to face the 3-0 Liberty Flames on September 21.
