The Florida State Seminoles have had a nightmarish start to the season.

Entering October at 1-4 and a stunning 1-3 in ACC play, the Seminoles’ focus has shifted from a College Football Playoff appearance to simply trying to make a bowl game this season.

The road through ACC play will be even more challenging for the Seminoles now. During Saturday’s loss to SMU, Florida State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei threw three interceptions. On the third, Uiagalelei hit his hand on a defender’s helmet and had to leave the game.

According to ESPN, Uiagalelei broke a finger on his throwing hand on the play and is expected to miss at least a few weeks.

Brock Glenn will start in Uiagalelei’s place. He went 0-4 in relief during the SMU game and is most remembered for starting the ACC Championship for Florida State last season after Jordan Travis suffered a season-ending injury.

Norvell said he was planning to put Glenn into the game against SMU even before he knew Uiagalelei had broken his finger.

“DJ did make a lot of good throws throughout the course of the game and some good decisions. He made some poor decisions and a couple bad throws, but you’ve got to help the quarterback. I don’t think we’ve done a good job of that consistently. At the end of the day, we all have to have ownership in that,” Norvell said Monday.

So far this season, Uiagalelei has gone 84-for-156 for 1,065 passing yards and four touchdowns to six interceptions.
