The Florida State Seminoles are having a season to forget.
When the Seminoles opened the season with a Week Zero loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, many thought it was just the typical early season craziness that would work itself out over time.
It didn’t work itself out over time. FSU is 1-4 entering October and a dismal 1-3 in ACC play. Before the season, the school was a potential College Football Playoff contender, and now they’ll be lucky even to make a bowl game.
The dreadful start to the season has also been felt on the recruiting trail. In the past month, Florida State has lost three top commits in their class of 2025. First, four-star defensive tackle Myron Charles flipped to Texas in early September. Then, four-star defensive end Javion Hilson de-committed, saying he wanted to decide closer to National Signing Day.
On Tuesday, four-star wide receiver Malik Clark became the latest player to de-commit from Florida State, per Hayes Fawcett of On3.

As noted, Clark is from Rock Hill, South Carolina which is 75 miles north of Columbia, where the South Carolina Gamecocks play. The Gamecocks are expected to be one of the team’s on Clark’s radar, as he took an official visit to the school in July before committing to Florida State and will be visting again this weekend to see the Gamecocks take on the Ole Miss Rebels per Adam Gorney of Rivals.
