The LSU Tigers are off to a 3-1 start to the season and up to No. 14 in the AP Poll following Saturday’s 34-17 win over the UCLA Bruins.
Unfortunately for LSU, however, the winning effort came at a price.
Linebacker Harold Perkins Jr. left the team’s 34-17 win over the UCLA Bruins early in the fourth quarter with a knee injury after making a tackle. After the game, head coach Brian Kelly said Perkins would undergo further testing.
LSU’s worst fears were confirmed Sunday night as 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported that Perkins. is believed to have suffered a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season.

The junior linebacker was named to the All-SEC First Team in 2022 and All-SEC Second Team in 2023. He led the Tigers in sacks in both seasons, with 7.5 in 2022 and 5.5 in 2023. Perkins has recorded 162 tackles and forced six fumbles in his LSU career.
Perkins was projected to be one of the top linebackers in the 2025 NFL Draft, though the injury now makes it unclear if he’ll declare or return to LSU.
LSU returns to action on September 28 when they host the South Alabama Jaguars.
