Jeremiah Smith has taken the college football world by storm. The Ohio State star freshman has been a revelation at wide receiver.
Defenses have had difficulty corralling him this year. That’s shown in his work in a big way.
As Ohio State’s Big Ten Network affiliate account on X noted, Smith has scored in each of the first five weeks of the season. No Buckeye before him ever achieved that feat, putting him in rarified air.

It’s an impressive and absurd feat, even looking past the wide receiver position. It’s not just true freshmen wide receivers, it’s true freshmen in general. Of all the talent to come through the program, Smith is the one to set this feat. It’s remarkable, and shows how gifted he is. And also how trusted he is in the offense, that they’ve been able to trust him to score touchdowns even with his youth.
Smith and Ohio State have their work cut out for them this weekend. The Buckeyes play the Oregon Ducks in a meeting of the country’s No. 2 and No. 3 teams. The game will be on primetime on NBC, so a nationwide audience will see what both teams have in store for each other.
