The Georgia Bulldogs have had a disappointing season. Even well before the SEC Championship Game, this is true.

Georgia lost to the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday afternoon. Amid rainy conditions, the Dawgs couldn’t get anything done on offense yet again. That wasn’t an environmental issue either. Georgia’s offense has sputtered this season. Carson Beck hasn’t played well at all this season, and they’ve now got very thin margin for error the rest of the way.

Fox’s Joel Klatt tried to diagnose Georgia’s issues, and in doing so, didn’t hold back on all the problems they have.

“I’ve always loved the Georgia defense. You guys know that. But there is something clearly wrong right now with the Georgia Bulldogs on the offensive side of the ball,” Klatt declared. “This is a team that is 50th in college football in total offense. The drop is staggering from what we’ve seen over the last couple of years. And they still have their quarterback. They’ve been a Top 5 offense each of the last two years. They are 50th. It’s not even close to what the expectation is for Georgia. The way that they’ve recruited, the way that they’ve played. This is quite shocking to see them play to this level.”

“Again, they have a short field touchdown drive and that’s the only way that they score a touchdown. It was very similar to the Texas game in that they couldn’t drive the length of the field. So when they face the team that has anything on the defensive side, they really struggle sustaining drives.”

Klatt didn’t defend Carson Beck and his poor play. But Klatt said that their issues mostly come from up front on the offensive line. Their ability to control the game the last few seasons has benefited them and led to their success. But this year, it hasn’t shaken out that way, which has led to their disappointments this season.

“There is a massive disconnect between the skill position players at Georgia and their quarterback Carson Beck,” Klatt argued.

It’s been a dispiriting season in Athens, but there’s still time to right the ship.
