Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Stoops answered any questions that outsiders may have on their quarterback situation this week. Stoops declared that quarterback Brock Vandagriff will remain the team’s starter at the most important position in the game.

Stoops addressed the situation during his media availability on Thursday ahead of Kentucky’s next SEC matchup. Kentucky used both Vandagriff and Gavin Winsatt, a transfer quarterback, in last week’s game against the Georgia Bulldogs.

“We’ve had Gavin ready, you know? And Brock was playing good, and it was one of those games, you know? But we’ve had plays. We’ve had things, and he’s looked really good.

“But Brock’s our starter,” Stoops emphatically said.

Stoops didn’t appear to shut the door on Winsatt potentially seeing the field. He claimed he was “excited” to see what the former Rutgers quarterback has to offer while still endorsing Vandgriff, a former Georgia commit, to be the team’s starter.

Kentucky will have some interesting waves to navigate in the newly expanded SEC. They’ve come awfully close to breaking through the past few seasons, but expansion and slightly tailing offcould put that race to relevancy on hold. Time will tell to see what Stoops and the Wildcats can do in 2024. The Wildcats play the Ohio Bobcats this weekend in Week 4.
