The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks have decided on a starting quarterback.
Wednesday night, Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reported that head coach Bryant Vincent and the Warhawks would be turning to Oklahoma Sooners transfer General Booty in the team’s August 29 season opener against the Jackson State Tigers.

General Booty started his college career at Tyler Junior College before transferring to the Oklahoma Sooners in 2022. Booty spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons at Oklahoma as a backup, seeing action in two games but not recording any stats. In December, he announced he would transfer to ULM and was expected to battle Hunter Herring for the starting job, which he won.
Booty is the nephew of former USC Trojans and Minnesota Vikings quarterback John David Booty. Also, his full legal name is General Axel Booty.
Naturally, the name alone led to a lot of praise and jokes on social media.
