When the Louisville Cardinals landed South Alabama Jaguars wide receiver Caullin Lacy in the transfer portal, there was undoubtedly a sigh of relief from Jeff Brohm and the other coaches.
Lacy, who finished fifth in the nation with 91 receptions and 1,316 yards for the Jaguars in the 2023 season, would be able to slide in and replace Louisville’s top 2023 receiver, Jamari Thrash, who graduated.
Unfortunately for Brohm and the Cardinals, they’ll have to figure out a different plan, at least for the immediate future.
Louisville announced Saturday that Lacy broke his collarbone in the final fall scrimmage and would miss “an extended time.”
Sports Illustrated’s Pat Forde reported that the receiver is expected to miss at least six weeks.
News from Louisville, not the good kind: wide receiver Caullin Lacy suffered a broken collarbone and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks. Lacy caught 91 passes for more than 1,300 yards last season at South Alabama.
