The LSU Tigers scored a major recruiting victory this weekend. LSU flipped 2025 wide receiver Phillip Wright III from the Michigan Wolverines, giving the Fighting Tigers a very talented addition to next year’s recruiting class.
On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported the news of Wright’s flip on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.
Fawcett quoted Wright as saying, “Sorry for the wait. Geaux Tigers.”

On3 lists Wright as a 3-star recruit in their system, ranking 422nd in the nation. He ranks 69th in his position and 12th in the state of Louisiana. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Wright hails from Destrehan and attends Destrehan High School.
LSU is building an exceptional recruiting class for the 2025 season. After Wright‘s flip from Michigan, the Tigers rank third in the nation after recently ranking seventh. Ohio State currently ranks first in the nation.
They also rank second in the Southeastern Conference behind archrival Alabama. LSU ranks ahead of Georgia, Auburn, Texas A&M, and Tennessee, which all currently have top-10 classes. They have three 5-stars, 14 4-stars, and four 3-stars. The key pieces are quarterback Bryce Underwood, cornerback DJ Pickett, and running back Harlem Berry.
