The college football world will soon be taken up by the transfer portal. On Monday, we got an early sign of things to come.

Maryland Terrapins quarterback Cameron Edge will enter the transfer portal. 247Sports’ Matt Zeniz reported the move for the third-year quarterback on Monday afternoon.

“Maryland QB Cameron Edge plans to enter the transfer portal,” Zenitz wrote.

Edge hasn’t gotten too much playing time since he arrived to College Park. In two seasons, he’s played in four career games and has gone 11 for 17 with 167 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He hasn’t appeared in a Terps game since the team’s win over Villanova on September 21. He also starred in their win over UConn, where he threw a touchdown in the team’s season opener.

As Zenitz wrote, he played well during the Music City Bowl against Auburn, a game Maryland won and a game he also threw a touchdown pass in.

There’s no telling where he’ll end up going, but this could be one of the first set of dominoes as the season winds down. Teams are seeing their seasons dwindling, and players will always respond to that.

The college football world had plenty to say regarding this transfer.
