The Michigan Wolverines will be without one of their anchors on defense. Michigan ruled Will Johnson, an All-American and one of the best defensive backs in America, out for this weekend’s game vs. Indiana.
The eighth-ranked Hoosiers, on the verge of making the Big Ten Championship Game, will play an undermanned Michigan team that may be ripe for the picking.
“Michigan will again be without star cornerback Will Johnson this week against No. 8 Indiana,” ESPN’s Pete Thamel wrote. Thamel noted that the All-American cornerback is “dealing with a lower body injury.”

It’s been a difficult season in Ann Arbor for the Wolverines. Michigan had little margin for error with their schedule this year, but they’ve dropped some disappointing games this year. That doesn’t really include the games to Oregon and Texas, who are currently much better than the Wolverines. But some frustrating performances against other teams have sent the Wolverines down to 5-4. It’s a far cry from their unbeaten season a year ago.
It doesn’t sand to get much better without Johnson’s presence his weekend. Indiana is a massive favorite over Michigan, a sentence you probably won’t see written out too often. Such is life in 2024.
