Florida State has had a terrible start to the 2024 college football season. That start worsened on Saturday with their 20-12 loss to the Memphis Tigers.
It’s not looking good for head coach Mike Norvell. This 0-3 start is historic, as the Seminoles are the first team in the AP poll era to go 0-3 against unranked opponents after starting the year in the Top 10.
Norvell is no stranger to 0-3 starts. As Brandon Marcello noted, this is the second time that Norvell has started 0-3 as the head coach of the Seminoles.
“FSU is 0-3 for only the third time in history and the second time under Mike Norvell,” Marcello noted in a post on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

It won’t get any easier next week for Florida State. The Seminoles welcome a spry California Golden Bears team that’s already shown an ability to win on the road. Cal defeated the Auburn Tigers down in Auburn just last week. The Golden Bears could do it again with how miserable FSU has looked this year. It hasn’t been great, and Norvell is on shaky ground.
