The Tennessee Volunteers are out to a spirited start to the season. After putting up prolific numbers in the first few weeks, Tennessee traveled to play Oklahoma in Norman in their Southeastern Conference opener. The Volunteers diced the Sooners up and came away victorious. Freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava helped lead the team to victory and helped put his stamp on the game.
The SEC announced they named the talented Volunteers quarterback their Freshman of the Week for his efforts.

Iamaleava was sharp against Oklahoma in the Volunteers’ victory. He went 13 for 21 for 193 yards and threw a long touchdown pass to wide receiver Dont’e Thornton Jr.
This is already Iamaleava’s third SEC Freshman of the Week honor this year. According to a Tennessee release, he tied Tyler Bray for the most SEC Freshman of the Week honors. Bray also won the award three times in four weeks back in 2010.
Iamaleava is already one of the most impressive quarterbacks in Tennessee’s illustrious history. How he continues to play on a talented team will lead to a fascinating run through SEC play this season. The sports world reacted to the news on the talented Tennessee QB.
