Notre Dame will potentially be without a crucial piece for the next two weeks. Wide receiver Jordan Faison suffered an injury during the Fighting Irish’s win over Texas A&M this weekend.

Head coach Marcus Freeman addressed the situation on Monday morning an updated on his status. He said Faison will be out for the next 1-2 weeks after spraining his ankle.

On3’s Tyler Horka reported on Faison’s status with the Irish.

The sophomore wide receiver emerged last season in a big way in the Sun Bowl. Against Oregon State, Faison recorded five receptions for 115 yards and added a touchdown to boot. For his efforts, he was named the 2023 Sun Bowl MVP.

Obviously, after that performance, big things were expected of Faison this year. And to be clear, they can still happen. Faison’s injury won’t off-road him entirely. He might face an uphill battle off an ankle sprain, but it’s nothing unconquerable.

The Irish have high expectations again in 2024. Notre Dame got off to a fast start with their win over Texas A&M this weekend. Their schedule doesn’t get much tougher from here, so we’ll see how they shake out this year. The Irish hope to once again make the College Football Playoff, this time in its new 12-team format.
