Ohio State Buckeyes star cornerback Denzel Burke has been somewhat reluctant to give praise to new quarterback Will Howard, who transferred to Ohio State from Kansas State this offseason. But that seems to have changed this week.
During his interview at Big Ten media days, Denzel Burke held back any praise for Will Howard as he said that he has “definitely got to see a lot more” from the new quarterback before he felt confident about him moving forward. But it sounds like Burke is no longer holding back that praise.
During a recent press conference after a little over a week of fall camp, Burke had a much more glowing assessment of what he has seen from Howard on the field.
“Will Howard’s been gaming,” Burke said on Friday according to Eleven Warriors. “He’s gotten a lot better and he’s been doing his thing. Great reads. He’s only thrown one interception all camp.”
He also had some high praise for the way he leads the team as a veteran player, as well.
“He’s a great leader, great person,” Burke said. “He’s a vet. And he’s a great quarterback.”
Howard has not yet officially earned the team’s starting quarterback spot as he continues to compete with Devin Brown, but he’s the current frontrunner. And it seems that he finally has Burke’s approval.
