The Oklahoma Sooners will turn back to quarterback Jackson Arnold.
Head coach Brent Venables announced this decision to return to Arnold on Monday. The Sooners are going through it at the moment, and after a tough loss to South Carolina, they’re making a change again.
“Brent Venables says it’ll be Jackson Arnold starting at QB this week for Oklahoma at Ole Miss,” reporter Tom Green wrote on X.

Arnold began the year as the Sooners’ starter. But after some disruption, Venables benched Arnold and started Michael Hawkins Jr. But after only a few short weeks with Hawkins at command, he didn’t do enough to make it undeniable it seems.
Nevertheless, Oklahoma is in a tough spot right now. Their QB situation may be hamstringing them, as well as adjusting to the new confines of the Southeastern Conference. It’s clear rival Texas was ready for the jump, as they’re still among the nation’s elite. Oklahoma has felt a step or two behind all season.
We’ll see if Arnold taking over at quarterback can energize the Sooners at all. They’ll have to really make a break for it with November fast approaching. We’ll see how it all shakes out for them, beginning with this important matchup against the Ole Miss Rebels coming up this weekend.
