As Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners prepare for their first season in the SEC, the recruiting trail has been prosperous for the squad.

On Wednesday, Venables and his staff landed a commitment from 2025 five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi, who becomes the highest-ranked recruit in Oklahoma’s 2025 class.

“Me and my family, we sat down, prayed about it and came up with the right answer. With Oklahoma, there was no ‘but.’ It was the only option that had no ‘but’ to it. The process was hard, but it became really easy for me to make this decision in the end,” Fasusi told ESPN.

The Lewisville, Texas native chose the Sooners over SEC foes Texas and Texas A&M, making Fasusi’s commitment that much sweeter for Venables and Oklahoma.

He is the third top-10 commit Oklahoma has received under Venables, joining quarterback Jackson Arnold and defensive tackle David Stone. He’s also the highest-ranked offensive tackle to commit to Oklahoma since at least 2006, which is as far back as ESPN’s rankings go

Fasusi and his family moved to the United States from Nigeria five years ago in pursuit of better opportunities. “My parents worked hard to make this happen. It was a really weird experience at first. I didn’t get to see why until now. But this opportunity is what we came here for,” he told ESPN.
