The Oklahoma State Cowboys have benched veteran quarterback Alan Bowman. Oklahoma State will instead turn to quarterback Garret Rangel against the BYU Cougars.
The O’Colly reported the news on the quarterback change Oklahoma State made going into this weekend.
“Garret Rangel is set to start against BYU, The O’Colly has learned,” reporter Ashton Slaughter posted on X.

“I’m excited to go out there and just let it all hang next week against BYU,” Rangel said.

“The O’Colly has learned that signs point toward Rangel starting against BYU,” the article wrote. “And that redshirt freshman Zane Flores is second on the quarterback depth chart ahead of seventh-year quarterback Alan Bowman, who has started the first six games, and freshman Maealiuaki Smith.”
So Bowman got demoted to third string while Oklahoma State explores its other options. Bowman has been in college football for an extraordinary amount of time. His first year was in 2018, and he’s spent time with three different programs: Texas Tech, Michigan, and the Pokes.
It appears though that as the calendar nears November, the Pokes want to examine other options that aren’t Bowman. Such is life in this cruel world, but it appears to be the end of the road for Bowman until further notice.
