The highly-touted Oregon Ducks will begin the 2024 college football season this Saturday. Ahead of the opener, they received some fantastic news: a star player returned to practice.
Jordan James is back. The Ducks’ star running back dealt with a nagging injury that kept him out of practice last week, but he’s ready to go this week.
Oregon reporter James Crepea noted James’ presence at practice.
As a sophomore last season, James had a terrific season. The Oregon running back rushed for 759 yards on 107 carries with 11 rushing touchdowns. He also scored on one receiving touchdown, which gave him 12 total touchdowns. James has recorded 17 total touchdowns from scrimmage in two years at Oregon. Sixteen of them have been on the ground.
James and running back Noah Whittington are expected to get the bulk of the carries this year. Whittington is returning on the heels of an injury himself, so he and James will be eager to see the field. Oregon has never had an issue producing talented running backs over the years. From Onterrio Smith and Maurice Morris to LaMichael James and Kenjon Barner, the Ducks are synonymous with excellent college running backs.
Oregon opens the 2024 college football season as the third-ranked team in the nation. The Ducks begin the year against the Idaho Vandals this Saturday at Autzen Stadium in Eugene.
