Oregon Kobe Savage Oregon defensive back Kobe Savage wraps up wide receiver Traeshon Holden during spring camp for the Oregon Ducks Thursday, March 14, 2024.

The Oregon Ducks are one of the best teams in the country. Ahead of the 2024 season, the Ducks bolstered their secondary room via the transfer portal. Notably, Oregon landed Washington cornerback Jabbar Muhammad. They also brought in former Kansas State safety Kobe Savage.

Oregon’s star transfer Savage spoke about how he’s felt lately in Eugene, and how he’s acclimated himself to the Ducks.

“I feel like I made a big leap from spring ball coming in this fall,” Savage told DucksWire‘s Zachary Neel last week. Savage spoke highly of himself and also his coaches.

“I know I was a vet, but just trying out this different scheme, trying to figure out all the different terminologies that Coach Tosh and Coach Hampton are using,” said Savage.

Savage played in 22 games with Kansas State in 2022 and 2023. He racked up 115 total tackles, 83 solo, with 6.5 TFL. Savage recorded six interceptions, three apiece in 2022 and 2023. He also forced a fumble back in 2022.

Savage is expected to help bolster an Oregon secondary that hasn’t had an elite safety room in many years. But it looks like the Ducks might have their recipe this season. They’re expected to challenge Ohio State at the top of the Big Ten Conference this year.

Oregon will open the 2024 college football season against Idaho on August 31.
