Pittsburgh Panthers head coach Pat Narduzzi was fined and publicly reprimanded by the ACC Sunday after he made comments critical of the referees following Pitt’s Week 3 win over the West Virignia Mountaineers.

“Some of the calls we got… late hit out of bounds, they catch a ball with a hands in the face and I’ve never seen anything like it, you know? Wow. We beat West Virginia in the Backyard Brawl, and we beat the officials, too, in one game,” Narduzzi said during his post-game interview on ESPN.

The interaction can be seen below.

Pitt was penalized 12 times in the win to West Virginia’s seven.

In their statement, the ACC said Narduzzi violated the conference’s sportsmanship policy, which prohibits public criticism of officials while acting in an official capacity. Narduzzi was clearly doing this. The conference also announced a $5,000 fine against the university, which will go into the ACC’s Weaver-James-Corrigan-Swofford Postgraduate Scholarship account.

Pittsburgh returns to action on September 21 to close out nonconference play against the Youngstown State Penguins.
