Paul Finebaum had a lot to say about Alabama on Monday. The then-top-ranked Crimson Tide lost to Vanderbilt over the weekend in one of college football’s most shocking upsets in recent memory.

The Crimson Tide’s performance has been skewered all weekend. Alabama rarely loses to Vanderbilt, if at all, so the Commodores’ win sent shockwaves throughout the sport. It seemed like everybody had an opinion about the Crimson Tide’s defeat. That included Finebaum, who’s never been shy to let his thoughts be known.

Finebaum blasted the current state of the Alabama football team on Monday morning. The ESPN personality had choice words for ‘Bama on SportsCenter.

“It is so not fine. It is really a mess,” Finebaum said via On3 after being asked if the “Alabama way” is going fine under new head coach Kalen DeBoer.

“There were just so many mistakes made, especially defensively. I mean Vanderbilt out-physicaled Alabama. Nobody has ever made that statement before,” Finebaum added. “At least not someone who isn’t 80 years old.”

It’s hard to argue that they’re disjointed this season. While they were the top-ranked team a week ago, with arguably the best win in college football to this point, they haven’t been a clean operation. Alabama’s defense has looked leaky at times. They had to battle hard with South Florida up until the fourth quarter, and the Georgia game was no easy win even after going up 28-0.

The loss to Vanderbilt might cause more concerns and questions to emerge than otherwise. It’s rare to see the coin flipped like this, so the reactions will be felt for some time.
