Alabama had their time at the top of the college football world. According to Paul Finebaum, those days are over.

It’s been a few years now since Alabama won the National Championship. Their last title win came during the COVID-shortened 2020 season. In all fairness, the last time they won a title in a full regular season was 2017 when they defeated the Georgia Bulldogs.

So it’s not too outrageous to think that, but Finebaum made that declarative statement anyway this week.

Appearing on ESPN’s Get Up, Finebaum said via On3, “We’ve seen Georgia win twice and Michigan win once since Alabama last won a national championship. So, yes, I would declare the dynasty done,” Finebaum said. “It was done before Saban left. It’s really done now that [Kalen] DeBoer is there.”

That’s a difficult statement to read if you’re Kalen DeBoer. Not too much optimism. However, Alabama is indeed working from behind in the SEC. Their days as the feared team of the land have withered in recent years. Georgia has stepped up as an intimidating force and has won two National Championships in the last three seasons. The top-ranked Dawgs seek their third in four years this season.

That’s just an example of the scene currently set in college football. Tuscaloosa was once the epicenter. Now, it’s simply not.
