Last season, the Colorado Buffaloes caught the eye of everyone in the college football world. Deion Sanders made waves in his first year as head coach of the Buffs, but the record didn’t match the hype. Colorado finished with a 4-8 record, and while that was an improvement in 2022, it wasn’t worth celebrating.

The Buffaloes still have a lot of hype this season, boasting Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. They’re a popular pick on the College Football 25 video game and will undoubtedly become a discussion point this year again. The games haven’t even started, and we’ve already been talking about them.

That continued this week as Paul Finebaum emerged on Wednesday on ESPN’s Get Up. The longtime SEC voice and personality blasted Colorado, and it’s safe to say he doesn’t think much of them this season.

“I think they’re looking at about a .500 record, which isn’t all that impressive when you consider the amount of energy and hype and overhype, I should say, to this program,” Finebaum said on Get Up via On3, before taking aim at the Buffs and the Big 12, where Colorado moved back to this offseason. “Deion Sanders is a superstar Greeny, we all know that, but Colorado is nothing. They’re just another school in the middle of nowhere in a third-rate league.”

The Big 12 welcomed Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah to the conference this offseason after realignment caused the Pac-12 to dissolve.

Finebaum continued via On3.

“The problem I have with Deion Sanders is his attitude,” he said. “Last year, he embraced it. He was the king of college football for five weeks. He’s already off to a terrible start. He started a food fight last weekend with the local media, which is a big mistake. He’s very defensive, and I think he’s in for a very difficult second year in Boulder.”

Colorado opens the year against North Dakota State on August 31.
