The Georgia Bulldogs fell to the Alabama Crimson Tide in a thrilling game Saturday night. Alabama has owned Georgia over the past few years, even while UGA has had Kirby Smart at the helm. It first looked like a Nick Saban issue, but after losing to Kalen DeBoer, Georgia might need to recalibrate. ESPN’s Paul Finebaum believes he has an idea of what their biggest problem is.
Finebaum joined The Matt Barrie Show and discussed how Georgia and their slow starts have put them in a bad spot, just like they did Saturday night.
“Georgia can live with that loss,” Finebaum said. “They’re not going 9-3, but if they did, that might not be enough for them.”
Finebaum expanded on that, saying he was befuddled as to why they’ve gotten off to slow starts.
“I still can’t figure out why Georgia can’t get off after the opening kickoff. This is now a real problem for them,” he said. “It was nearly insurmountable last night. Ultimately, it cost them the game.”
Georgia has sleepwalked at times at the beginning of the games this season. They certainly did against the Crimson Tide, who opened up a 28-0 lead on the Dawgs. Georgia will have to get that right, or more losses could be on the table.
