The Missouri Tigers ended last season on a high note. Mizzou defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl, a place where the Tigers have often put an exclamation point on their seasons over the years.

Entering 2024, with an expanded College Football Playoff, the Tigers have a chance to break through. They’re a very talented team that might put a lot of people on notice this year. Paul Finebaum doesn’t need to be put on notice because the longtime SEC personality knows what they bring to the table.

Finebaum and CFB reporter Heather Dinich joined Get Up on ESPN this week. Dinich and Finebaum were both asked who they thought, from outside of the AP Top 5, could make a splash and be a National Championship contender. And Finebaum is bullish on the Tigers.

Finebaum said of Mizzou via On3, “I like Missouri. Missouri has one of the easiest schedules in the world if you can possibly have that in the Southeastern Conference. They will be favorites in most of their games. Don’t forget they destroyed Ohio State. They didn’t have one of their best players but they still destroyed them in the Cotton Bowl last year.”

Finebaum added that he’s particularly keen on Mizzou because of their star wide receiver, Luther Burden III. “Keep your eye on Missouri,” he concluded.

Mizzou fans would absolutely enjoy an appearance in the newly expanded CFP. So we’ll see if fortune goes their way.
