Peyton Manning, like many others, has been in awe of Texas quarterback Arch Manning. The latest to follow the namesake on the gridiron has looked the part for the highly-touted Longhorns. Arch has helped lead the Longhorns to victory multiple times this season after starting quarterback Quinn Ewers went down with an oblique strain.

So far, they’re still humming right along. While Alabama took over the No. 1 spot from them this week, the Longhorns did little to lose it. Manning has looked sharp and poised under center, quelling any doubts about his play.

Older Peyton has liked what he’s seen. On Friday, he joined Kay Adams on Up & Adams and discussed his nephew’s play for the Longhorns. Adams asked Peyton who his favorite uncle was, and Peyton revealed the truth behind that question.

“Oh I don’t know, you’d have to ask him that,” Manning joked. “I think people think that Eli and my nephew and I have weekly Zooms to break down coverages. Right?” he asked. “Completely untrue,” he revealed. “We’re his uncles. We try to be there as a resource to him, but he’s getting great coaching from Steve Sarkisian and that staff. That’s why he went there to be coached by them. I think, like any college quarterback that has support from their family, that’s what we do. We pull hard for him and try to be there.”

Manning joked he thinks Arch sometimes “regrets” asking him questions.

“He texted me with a question on a 2-minute drill. Three eight-minute voice memos later, I left him with all the details of a 2-minute drill. I think he was like, ‘You know what? I think I can get this information from somewhere else.'”

Manning said he tries to support him, and after Kay mentioned that he’s wearing the same No. 16 Peyton wore at Tennessee, Peyton still said his favorite uncle is probably Eli.
