The Texas Longhorns debut in the Southeastern Conference this coming weekend. But ahead of their opener against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, star Quinn Ewers is still uncertain about playing.
After Ewers’ exuberant performances in the early goings this season, the Texas star quarterback went down with an oblique strain in Week 3. Arch Manning, a touted recruit from a very famous football family, has looked good in his place. Still, Ewers is the team’s starter. QB1’s still “questionable” heading into the Longhorns’ SEC debut however.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian delivered the news on his quarterback’s status, while noting he did practice with the team as well.
“Texas QB Quinn Ewers practiced on Monday,” Texas writer CJ Vogel quoted Sarkisian saying. “Sarkisian adds Ewers would be listed as questionable.”

Ewers has led an impressive college football career so far. Las season, he led Texas to their most impressive season in well over a decade. He brought them to the College Football Playoff, where they fell to eventual National Runner-Up Washington. Ewers helped lead Texas to a big win over Michigan two weeks ago. He has pro scouts adoring him as well, so his prospects this season could go a long way toward a potential high first-round situation.
Time will tell to see if he sees the field against Mississippi State this weekend.
