Steve Sarkisian refuses to play his hand on Arch Manning. The Texas Longhorns head coach told reporters on Monday that they, like the rest of us, must wait and see if the touted quarterback will see the field in Week 1.

Sarkisian addressed the media on Monday ahead of the Longhorns’ Week 1 matchup against the Colorado State Rams.

“We’ll find out,” Sarkisian said. The Texas coach then quipped, “It was a nice slide to try and slide that in there.”

There’s evident attention around the Texas program due to Manning. The former five-star recruit hasn’t seen the field in a rigorous environment yet. Quinn Ewers is the starter for the Longhorns this year again, so barring a catastrophe, it’s likely we still won’t see him.

But perhaps in garbage time against a lesser opponent, Texas could decide to give him the keys. That would be at least an agreeable situation. However, it’s not one that you can reveal or show your hand to on Monday of game week. A decision like that comes during the game itself.

All eyes will likely be on Texas until they decide to let Manning onto the field. Sarkisian has been steadfast in prioritizing his development over everyone’s desire to have him see the field.
