On Saturday, the Tennessee Volunteers boasted about a big-time recruiting win. Tennessee landed the commitment of the top-ranked offensive tackle in the Class of 2025.
Offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina, announced his commitment to the Vols. On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported Sanders’ commitment with a post on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.
Fawcett noted that Sanders Jr. chose the Vols over powerhouses Georgia and Ohio State, as well the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Sanders became the top-ranked recruit in Tennessee’s talented 2025 recruiting class on Saturday. He’s the first five-star of the class according to On3’s recruiting database. It’s a blue-chip heavy class though, as over 50 percent of the Volunteers’ 2025 class is rated 4 stars or above.
Tennessee now ranks 7th in the nation after his commitment, previously ranking 13th. They also vaulted up to fifth in the competitive Southeastern Conference. Alabama, LSU, Georgia, and Auburn still rank ahead of Tennessee even after the commitment. But the Vols are building a very good class that should help them compete in the newly expanded SEC going forward.
