The Florida State Seminoles are having a nightmare of a season.
Entering their bye week this week, FSU is 1-5 on the season and 1-4 in ACC play, as one of the preseason ACC and CFP favorites now needs to go undefeated for the rest of the season to even make a bowl game.
Injuries, one of the country’s worst rush defenses, and inconsistent quarterback play have all marred the Seminoles this season. To make matters even worse, the program continues to lose top commits in future recruiting classes.
The most recent example came Thursday, when 2025 four-star wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon flipped his commitment from Florida State to the Texas Longhorns.
Horns247 had the news first.

As noted, McCutcheon committed to the Seminoles in July 2024, before the team’s tailspin started. He’s the fourth four-star player to de-commit from FSU in the past few weeks, joining DL Javion Hilson, DL Myron Charles (who also flipped to Texas), and WR Malik Clark who flipped to the South Carolina Gamecocks.
For Texas, McCutcheon bolsters an already strong wide receiver class, joining Jamie Ffrench and Kaliq Lockett.
