The Texas Longhorns have had no shortage of success on offense this season, checking in at fourth in the SEC with 453 offensive yards per game.
Quarterbacks Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning have done an exceptional job spreading the ball around, with nine players on the Longhorns having 100 or more receiving yards this season.
Unfortunately for Texas, one of those nine players will no longer be with the program.
On Thursday morning, Inside Texas, the school’s team site on On3, reported that sophomore wide receiver Johntay Cook was no longer with the program. The report didn’t specify the reason for his departure, but noted that Cook’s last reception came in Texas’s SEC-opening win against the Mississippi State Bulldogs at the end of September.
However, shortly after the initial report, OrangeBloods, Texas’s Rivals site, said Cook was ‘dismissed’ from the team.

We will have to wait and see if head coach Steve Sarkisian clarifies the situation, but the main takeaway is that Cook will no longer be with the team.
In two seasons with Texas, Cook hauled in 16 catches for 273 yards and a pair of touchdowns, both of which were in the 2024 season.
The Longhorns return from their bye week this week and will host the Florida Gators on Saturday in Austin.
