When Colorado State Rams wide receiver Tory Horton returned to school for his senior season, many wondered what the standout would do to top his past two seasons.
Horton notched back-to-back thousand-yard seasons, hauling in 71 receptions for 1,131 yards and eight touchdowns in 2022 and 96 receptions for 1,136 yards and eight touchdowns in 2023.
Unfortunately for Horton and the Rams, he won’t capture a third straight thousand-yard performance. Head coach Jay Norvell announced Monday that Horton would undergo season-ending surgery for an injury suffered in CSU’s 31-24 win over the San Jose State Spartans over the weekend.

โI am very sad to announce that Tory Horton will undergo a season-ending procedure from an injury sustained in our game against San Jose State and will not return this season,” Norvell said in a statement.
Horton, who followed Norvell to Colorado State from Nevada, was just 35 yards away from setting a new Mountain West career record.
โThis will end the career of the two-time captain and one of the best players in Colorado State and Mountain West history. He was on the brink of accomplishing several career milestones at CSU and the Mountain West, including just 35 yards short of becoming the all-time Mountain West receiving yards leader,” Norvell added in his statement.
Horton was a two-time Mountain West First Teamer, appearing in 2022 and 2023. He also set the Colorado State single-game reception record when he hauled in 18 receptions in the team’s 2023 loss to the Colorado Buffaloes. This season, Horton had 26 receptions for 353 yards and one touchdown.
Between Nevada and Colorado State, Horton finishes his college career with 285 receptions for 3,615 yards and 27 touchdowns. He is likely to be selected in the NFL Draft and will make a full recovery by the time the 2025 NFL season begins.
