The UCLA Bruins head into another round of Big Ten play this weekend. On Wednesday, we learned the status of their quarterback situation.
Bruins head coach DeShaun Foster addressed the media on Wednesday and discussed the status of Ethan Garbers. Garbers began the year as the UCLA starter but missed last week’s game vs. Penn State due to an ankle injury.
“Ethan’s looking good, but both of them are taking reps,” Foster said of Garbers and fellow quarterback Justyn Martin.
In other words, there is no word yet on Garbers’ status for Saturday’s matchup against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. UCLA will host Minnesota at the Rose Bowl at 9 p.m. Eastern.
Minnesota is on the heels of a shocking victory. The Gophers defeated the visiting USC Trojans, UCLA’s in-city rival, in one of the program’s biggest victories.
Foster’s Bruins are a meager 1-4 so far this year. After a Week 1 win over Hawaii, the Bruins have dropped each of their last four games. They’ve fallen to Indiana, LSU, Oregon, and Penn State. Their move to the Big Ten isn’t amounting to many victories on the football field yet.
Expectations weren’t high in Westwood this year. Still, you’d like to see some fight out of them. If Garbers gets re-inserted in the lineup, he can bring some charge.
