Del Rio hasn’t been out of football for over the last 40-plus years. The former USC linebacker had a decade-long career in the NFL before transitioning into coaching. He’s been on a coaching staff every year but three since 1997. He was the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2003 to 2011. Only from 2018 to 2020 did he not have a position somewhere.
Wisconsin is Del Rio’s first collegiate stop since leaving USC in 1985. The Badgers begin the 2024 college football season against Western Michigan on Friday night.
