The Alabama Crimson Tide and Memphis Tigers men’s basketball programs have announced a charity exhibition game before the 2024-25 college basketball season gets underway.

The game, which will take place at the Von Braun Center Propst Arena in Huntsville as part of the 2024 Rocket City Classic, will be held on October 28 and will be open to the public. Tickets will go on sale on August 22.

This marks the second year of the Rocket City Classic, as last year’s exhibition saw the Auburn Tigers win 87-62 over the UNC-Asheville Bulldogs.

All proceeds from the game between Alabama and Memphis will go to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation.

Memphis went 22-10 in the 2023-24 season, missing the NCAA Tournament and declining an NIT bid after the once-promising season that saw the Tigers start 15-2 came to a disappointing end.

The Crimson Tide fared better in the 2023-24 campaign, as head coach Nate Oats led the team to its first Final Four in school history before bowing out to the eventual champion UConn Huskies in the national semifinals.

“We are excited and looking forward to partnering with Memphis for this meaningful event in Huntsville. This exhibition game is a chance to benefit the Huntsville Hospital Foundation and give back to people in need which goes beyond basketball. We look forward to seeing our fans in Huntsville and the opportunity to play a quality program in Memphis,” Oats said in the release.
