The Gonzaga Bulldogs are one of college basketball’s most consistently dominant programs in the past 25 years.
Since head coach Mark Few was hired in 1999, he has won 716 games with the school and made it to the NCAA Tournament every year in which one has been held. Few has also taken the Bulldogs to the Sweet 16 or further in 13 of the 25 appearances.
The Bulldogs will likely continue their NCAA Tournament streak in the 2024-25 men’s college basketball season, but they’ll have to do it without a player they were relying on to contribute this season.
On Tuesday, the program announced that guard Steele Venters tore his Achilles in practice and would miss the entire season.
Theo Lawson of the Spokesman-Review shared Tuesday’s statement on his X account.

Venters also missed the entire 2023-24 season with an ACL tear.
The guard started his collegiate career with the Eastern Washington Eagles, spending three seasons there and averaging 13.5 points per game.
“We are heartbroken for Steele. He was working so hard to come back from his knee injury. We will continue to support Steele through his healing process and know he will come back better and stronger,” Few said in the statement.
